We are a “No Kill” shelter. We are not a government agency. We receive less then 1/3 of our annual operating budget from contracts with local municipalities including City of Cortland, Town of Cortlandville, & Town of Preble. We do not receive any contractual money from any municipality for the care of cats. We rely on donations, fundraising, and memberships for 2/3 of our operating budget. We welcome volunteers to assist us in the care and socialization of our cats and dogs, as well as numerous other opportunities. We receive no funding from any National Humane organization. We need your help! MISSION STATEMENT The Cortland Community SPCA is dedicated to ensuring the best possible quality of life for animals and to promoting respect and reverence for them. We strive to: Prevent cruelty to animals. Curb pet overpopulation. Promote community responsibility for humane care, treatment, and well-being of all animals through adoption, education, information, investigation, and action.
