Give a Paw a Hand: Volunteer!!

How: Just stop in or call to inquire about one of these jobs.

When: Most volunteer jobs need to be done during the shelter’s hours. (Refer to Home page) but some can be done from home so please ask, if this is what you would prefer.

Who: Volunteers must be 18 years of age to volunteer, but there are plenty of great ways kids under 18 can help! call or stop by the shelter and we will help get them involved.

What you can do: First and foremost, whatever you give of your time will be great; the best you can give is your LOVE to our pets at the shelter. With that love, here’s what our four-legged friends need:

Dog Walking: Walking the dogs on the premises and giving them some playtime and socialization.
Cat Socializer: Holding, petting, and grooming of the cats.
Pet Monitoring: Checking cages for cleanliness and water is available.
Adoption Counseling (Matchmakers):First you must learn about the animals and our potential adoption applicants. Then you will match the best adoption applicant to one of our friends.
Copying/Mailing: Folding and stuffing envelopes for mailings for fundraisers, newsletters, or public awareness.
Adoption Papers:Adoption application papers have to be copied and stapled together.
Follow-Up Calls:Involves calling newly adopted pet owners to check on the progress/adjustment of our friends to their surroundings and the family. (Making sure all is well for newly adopted pets and a proper match was accomplished.) Requires brief training.
Laundry:Washing and drying any shelter materials.
Cleaning: General upkeep of interior of the shelter.
Grounds Keeper: Any kind of seasonal work outside to keep our shelter’s appearance inviting. (i.e., raking, mowing, weeding, shoveling walks, sweeping, etc.)
